Role Summary

The Magna New Mobility team is seeking a talented & nimble engineer to join our Teleoperations team to solve challenging problems towards advancing mobility for everyone and everything. An ideal candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working with ambiguity to develop innovative solutions solving problems related to people and goods mobility. You will be responsible for developing concepts, prototyping, validation and launching them into production. Key Responsibilities

  • Significant and extensive experience in software system architecture design, software implementation design, analysis, troubleshooting, and testing
  • Ability to architect hardware and software’s for embedded systems
  • Ability to read, understand and create diagrams, charts and schematics, as well as software architecture, software design, and software development documents and test specifications.
  • Strong technical background to perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis, as well as strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly and effectively to a non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to interpret vehicle and/or system level requirements and to translate them into scalable rapid prototyped controls systems for a wide variety of applications.
  • Confer with other project engineers to clarify or resolve problems and develop designs.
  • Maintain project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, estimating timing needs and hurdles, sequencing project elements, and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities (Cont.)

  • Willing and flexible to work on systems outside of core experience.
  • Develop creative engineering solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Create specifications and requirements to meet functional objectives.
  • Work with engineering tools to develop prototype and/or production intent solutions.
  • Evaluate technologies and product designs with compliance to scientific principles, engineering principles, company standards and customer requirements.
  • Analyze engineering results and proposed product changes to determine feasibility, and improvement of functional performance.
  • Direct testing activities for components and equipment under designated conditions to ensure operational performance meets specifications

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree in an Engineering or related field
  • Comprehensive understanding about automotive technology
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of recent, in-depth, hands-on experience in a relevant field in the automotive industry
  • SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in automotive software development including working with hardware platforms. 
  • Experience in software programming using C++ and/or C
  • Knowledge of telematic control units 5G and 4G
  • Understanding of antenna signals and communication
  • Experience with architecting software for embedded systems including dealing with hardware platforms.
  • Experience working with communication protocols such as CAN, Automotive Ethernet (TCP/IP), Bluetooth etc.
  • Good understanding of version, build processes, binary management & release.

Key Qualifications/Requirements (Cont.)

  • Knowledge of automotive functional safety and security
  • Experience with bootloaders and designing reflash protocols over CAN, SPI, I2C and Serial interfaces for single and dual-processor architectures.
  • Experience with integration and configuration of Vector CANbedded software and Vector Flash Bootloader.
  • Knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System)
  • Involvement in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills, additional languages skills desired
  • Ability to work in global team-based environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office incl. high level skills on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent professional communication skills (written and verbal) and good presence
  • Demonstrated technical ability and creativity to initiate, direct, and control specific projects.

Work Environment

Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Local and/or international travel may be required.
